Opportunity Description
HAN Scholarship applications are now open for international bachelor’s and master’s degree applicants in the Netherlands. HAN University offers these scholarships with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, the Netherlands Association of Applied Sciences, The Dutch Organization for Internationalization in Education, and the Association of Universities, the Netherlands. International applicants from outside the EU/EEA can apply for this opportunity.
To be eligible, applicants should have applied to a full-time English-taught degree program at HAN before October to get a scholarship for the coming year. Also, English language proficiency is necessary for this opportunity.
For 2025, the University offers two types of scholarships for undergraduate and master’s degree programs: the HAN Holland Scholarship and the Honors Scholarship.

Benefits of HAN Scholarships
Students who have a successful application and pass all requirements of the HAN University will benefit from the HAN Scholarships as follows:
For Bachelor Applicants
- HAN Holland Scholarship: For this scholarship, applicants will receive € 2,500 in the 1st semester and 2nd semester. After that, recipients will receive € 2,500 per year for the coming three years of their study. To be qualified for the rest of the years, students should continue earning the required 45 credits each year.
- Honors Scholarship: This one is a different program. Students do not need to apply for an Honors Scholarship; the academic board of the study program will select qualified students with outstanding academic achievements in their first year. The University starts payment with € 2,500 in the 2nd year. After that, students will receive € 2,500 each following year of study. The following students are eligible for the HAN Honors Scholarship:
- Students who fulfill the minor requirements
- Those who did not receive a HAN Holland scholarship.
- To get this scholarship for the following years, students should earn 45 credits each year.
For Master’s Degree Applicants
- HAN Holland Scholarship: For this scholarship, applicants will receive € 2,500 in the first and second semesters, for a total of € 5000.
- Honors Scholarship: This is a different program. Students do not need to apply for the Honors Scholarship; the academic board of the study program will select qualified students with outstanding academic achievements in their first year. This scholarship is a one-time payment of € 2,500 in the second semester. Those who did not receive a HAN Holland scholarship are eligible for this grant.
HAN Scholarships Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for these opportunities, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Applicants should be nationals of a country outside the EU/EEA
- Must not have previously enrolled in a degree at a university or applied sciences universities in the Netherlands.
- Provide evidence of enrolment into a full-time English-taught degree program at HAN.
- Prove an IELTS score of a minimum of 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 90, or a Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE)
How to Apply for the HAN Scholarships?
To apply for HAN Scholarships, all applicants should follow the five below steps:
Step 1: Apply for a degree program at HAN and get an acceptance letter. Make sure you are accepted before 01 October 2024 for a program that starts in February 2025.
Step 2: Prepare the scholarship application and all supporting documents. Applicants should prepare three supporting items, including:
- Motivation letter explaining why the applicant will be a successful HAN student.
- An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A short video of a maximum of 3 minutes addressing the following:
– Self-description and the things the applicant excels in
– What would the applicant’s previous teachers or friends recommend?
– Explain the chosen course of study at HAN
– Applicants should imagine teamwork; considering their personality or experience, what role would they have in a team and why?
– What are their career ambitions? What and where do they think they will be ten years from now (please speak professionally)?
Step 3: Submit a scholarship application following the link in the email invitation. Please complete the scholarship application form and submit it online with the three abovementioned items. Please note that the application deadline is 19 October 2024, midnight CEST, for programs starting in February 2025.
Step 4: Wait for email notification of the award on 3 November 2024.
Step 5: Accept the scholarship in a written letter within the deadline mentioned in the award certification letter.
