The University of Trento has now announced a call for two 12-month Research Fellowships (renewable for another 12 months) for at-risk scholars. The call is accessible to numerous disciplines and research areas and involves 14 academic structures (Departments/Centers/Schools) of the University.

Benefits of Research Fellowship for Scholars at Risk:

• The entire annual coverage is 25,000 Euro, paid in monthly installments (1,835 Euro net).
•  The University of Trento will provide selected applicants and their families (spouse and children under the age of 18) with free housing inside its structures for the contract term.
• Non-EU candidates’ registration fees to the National Healthcare System (SSN) or private healthcare insurance coverage will be repaid.
• The University will pay for selected candidates’ travel expenses to and from the University.

Eligibility Criteria:

The following preconditions must be fulfilled:

• A Ph.D. title from an Italian or foreign university relevant to the research endeavor or an equivalent qualification gained in a foreign nation
• A professional and scientific CV that is appropriate for the research project is indicated in the artwork.
• Being a foreign citizen in one of the conditions listed below:
• 1. Possession of refugee status in Italy, another European Union country, or a country that has signed the Geneva Convention
• 2. Recognition of the status of subsidiary protection in Italy or another European Union country;
• 3. Asylum seeker in Italy or another member state of the European Union
• 4. Be previously identified as an “at-risk scholar” by SAR (SAR-status) or other certified international organizations working in this sector [Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) and Council for At-Risk Academics] (CARA).

• Publication list and any additional certificate or qualification

• Letters of reference (up to three) or a file indicating the names of up to three referees

Selection Procedure & Timeline:

Interviews are expected to occur between the 9th and 13th of May 2022, with selected candidates contacted between the 23rd and 25th of May 2022. They have until June 1, 2022, to accept the role. The title/qualifications, research project (using the Template linked to the application form), motivation letter, and interview will all be used to make the final decision (held remotely).
