Fudan University will continue to offer the Master Program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (henceforth referred to as the Scholarship) offered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) to applicants who are interested in Chinese language education and related fields as well as students majoring in Chinese Language and Literature.

Scholarship:

• The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of two academic years, beginning in September 2024

Eligibilities and Qualifications:

Applicants must have the following:

• A non-Chinese citizen
• Be amicable with China’s people
• Have no criminal history,
• Adhere to both the laws and regulations of China and the Host Institution;
• Be interested in Chinese language education and related fields; and
• Be between the ages of 16 and 35 on September 1, 2024. For Chinese instructors who are currently employed, the upper age limit may be raised to 45.
• A bachelor’s degree is required, and candidates must obtain at least 180 on the HSK test (Level 6) and 60 on the HSKK test (Advanced Level). Candidates who can show proof of this or an employment contract with a teaching institution once they graduate from college in China will be given preference.

Documents Requirement:

• A scanned copy of the photo page in a passport;
• A scanned copy of the HSK and HSKK test score reports (within the test’s two-year validity);
• A letter of recommendation from the president of the institutions that are recommending the application, which should assess the applicant impartially and state whether the applicant is a student at the Confucius Institute or has another identity; Chinese language instructors who are currently employed must present identification and an employer reference letter;
• An official transcript and a certificate of the highest education diploma (or evidence of anticipated graduation);
• A letter of recommendation from an associate or professor. Candidates who can guarantee a job contract with a teaching institution once they graduate from Chinese universities will be given preference.
• Applicants may submit their application materials and scholarship certificates to Fudan University via the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website if they have been awarded the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate during Chinese Bridge competitions. • Please go online and look for host and recommended colleges; make Fudan University your top option;
• Submit your application materials online and keep tabs on the status, feedback, and outcomes of your application.
• An expert panel will be tasked by CLEC with reviewing the applications. The findings will be made public roughly three months prior to the commencement of classes;
• In order to follow the requirements for studying in China, scholarship holders must verify with the host universities and print their online certificate of scholarship;
• In accordance with the admissions letter, register at the host universities on the specified date.
