Opportunity Description

Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM) Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition 2022 is now accepting applications. The Environmental Photographer of the Year contest, now in its 15th year, celebrates the most inspiring environmental photography worldwide. The prize recognizes humanity’s ability to endure and innovate and images that draw attention to our influence and inspire us to live more sustainably. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are supported by the Environmental Photographer of the Year competition, which recognizes the intricate, interconnected nature of development, poverty reduction, equality, security, and climate action, as well as the unprecedented effort required from all sectors of society to address the defining issues of our time.

Benefits

Environmental Photographer of the Year: Professional and amateur photographers of all ages worldwide are eligible for this award. The winner will get a cash prize £5,000, an interview in CIWEM’s Environment Magazine, a profile on WaterBear’s website, and a mention on Nikon Europe website.
Young Environmental Photographer of the Year: This category honors the emerging talent and is accessible to photographers under the age of 21. The winner will get a Z Series Mirrorless camera, two NIKKOR Z lenses of their choice, an interview in CIWEM’s Environment Magazine, & a feature on the Nikon and Waterbear platforms.

Additional cash awards of £1,000 are available in the following four categories:

Eligibility Criteria

Photographers from all over the world are welcome to apply.
Anyone born on or after August 31, 2001, is automatically nominated for Young Environmental Photographer of the Year.
For entries under 18, parental consent from the photographer’s parent or guardian is required. Following the completion of your submission, proof of age may be required. You may enter previously published images, but not photos that have won or been recognized in another international photography competition.

How to apply for Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition?

Eligible photographers can apply online. The winners & finalists will be announced in late November. Successful applicants will be contacted in early November to discuss the following steps if any of your photos are chosen for publication.
