To help scientists from International Centre for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (ICGEB) Member States & research groups at ICGEB laboratories in New Delhi, India, Cape Town, South Africa, & Trieste, Italy, the ICGEB offers Short-term fellowships for Postdoctoral studies in ICGEB Component laboratories. These fellowships are intended to provide access to the most recent research techniques & to strengthen the capacity building.

Financial Assistance

Arturo Falaschi Short-term Postdoctoral Fellowships provide the following financial assistance:

• Trieste, Italy ($2,000), New Delhi, India ($1,590), and Cape Town, South Africa (ZAR 23,000) are the three cities that get monthly stipends.
• Travel: The fellowship covers the costs of the participant’s initial trip to the ICGEB lab from their home country and their return trip at the end of the fellowship.
• Throughout the fellowship, there is reimbursement for medical expenses.
• The research group’s funding will cover all expenses related to research.
• Application and renewal fees for visas and permits of stay are covered.
• The Group Leader / PI often offers support for attending meetings and courses.
• Family members of program participants are NOT financially supported, and ICGEB cannot offer administrative assistance.

Eligibility for the Arturo Falaschi Short-term Postdoctoral Fellowships

• Candidates must be citizens of an ICGEB Member State and are not eligible to apply for fellowships to be completed in their home country unless they have been employed abroad for at least the previous three years at the time of application. (list of ICGEB Member State)
• Candidates must have recent PhDs in the life sciences.
• The candidate must have a minimum of three years of research experience.
• Candidates under 35 years old are preferred.

Selection Criteria

The following are the primary selection criteria:

• The project’s high level of scientific quality,
• The candidate’s qualifications, and
• The possible advantages for the home country

• A reliable form of identification (passport or identity card). It is advised to have a passport valid for at least a year.
• English Diploma (TOEFL, Cambridge, or similar). This paper is not required when the academic study is done in English.
