Organization Description

The University of Dundee is a public research university located in Dundee, Scotland. It is a red brick university that was created as a university college in 1881 with a contribution from the wealthy textile manufacturing Baxter family. For the most of its early history, the institution was a constituent college of the University of St Andrews, alongside United College and St Mary’s College, both of which were located in the town of St Andrews. The University of Dundee received independent university status by royal charter in 1967, after major expansion, while keeping much of its old heritage and governance structure.
