Celebrating its tenth year, the Waislitz Global Citizen Awards honor individuals for their exceptional work eradicating extreme poverty with yearly cash prizes totaling $250,000. Three prizes total—a $100,000 major prize, two additional prizes of $75,000 each, and the top prize.

Global Citizen and the Waislitz Foundation deliver the prizes. The mission of the Waislitz Foundation is to foster creative projects that enable people to realize their full potential and significantly improve the world in order to have a positive social influence both locally and globally.

Alex Waislitz is the founder and chairman of the Waislitz Foundation, situated in Melbourne: (It is a duty to eradicate extreme poverty; it is not an option. Three $250,000 awards overall are given out in the Waislitz Global Citizen Awards of 2024:

• $100,000: Grand Prize winner of the Waislitz Global Citizen Award
• The Waislitz Global Citizen Disruptor Award is worth $75,000.
• The Waislitz Global Citizens’ Choice Award is worth $75,000.

The three winners will get monetary awards as well as editorial features that appear on the Global Citizen website and social media.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applications for the prizes are open to participants from all around the world who are at least eighteen (18) years old, or older.
• The rewards must be applied for by the applicants themselves.
• Individuals or individual representatives of organizations are eligible to receive the honors. The money will go to the organization that the winner works for, but the reward will be given to the individual.
• Any person making a positive effect and having a legally recognized organization, such as a social business, nonprofit, for-profit, or B-corp, is eligible to apply.
• They are pleased that you have a strong desire to improve the world community. These honors, however, are reserved for people who have made a significant contribution to eradicating severe poverty over a minimum of one to two years.
• They can only take applications in English at this time.

Selection Criteria:

Every applicant will be assessed according to their own merit, taking into consideration the following five crucial areas:

• GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP: How does the candidate represent and put into reality the principles and behaviors of a global citizen?
• PROOF OF CONCEPT: Does the applicant have a compelling proof of concept that will significantly reduce extreme poverty in at least a year or two?
• DISRUPTION: Has the applicant, through inventive means, produced quantifiable effects that upset the mechanisms that sustain extreme poverty?
• SCALABILITY: In what ways might this prize help the applicant expand or enhance their work?
• ADAPTABILITY: Is the candidate able to provide instances of how they have evolved and adapted to new circumstances?
