Opportunity Description
The Refugee Fellows Program of Refugees International enhances and backs the global advocacy endeavors of refugee leaders. Fellows who complete this year-long fellowship will be armed with the knowledge and resources needed to elevate the voices of refugees and internally displaced people and effect real change in their local communities.
Fellows work directly with their staff on a range of advocacy projects, such as papers, opinion articles, events, research trips, and direct interaction with policy makers. They are technically linked with Refugees International. Fellows also take part in official and informal training sessions with advocacy and communications professionals, as well as peer-to-peer learning.

Benefits:
- For working up to five hours a week, fellows will receive a $15,000 award over the course of the year, paid out in four quarterly payments.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Those who have personally experienced forced relocation and who have shown a commitment to advocating for the rights and safety of displaced people are eligible to apply for the program.
- They welcome applications from aspiring leaders with a range of experiences.
- For the fellowship program to be successful in the end, proficiency in English is required so that fellows can interact with all facets of Refugees International’s work and personnel. Proficiency in additional advocacy and regional languages is also a plus.
- Candidates must have access to the internet and a computer of their own in order to participate in this remote program.
- In accordance with US law, fellows must have a bank account to which the grant can be deposited.
How to Apply?
- In order to apply, candidates must fill out an application, send in a personal statement, and provide a brief work plan outlining their goals for the fellowship year.
- In the latter half of June, candidates will get invitations to a panel interview. Fellowships will be awarded by the beginning of July, and the first fellowships will start on July 22, 2024, for a duration of one year.
