Scholarships Value

The University of Canterbury (UC) Engineering Top Achievers Scholarship is worth $5,000 per annum for two years or $1,500 per annum for two years.

The scholarship is payable by direct credit to the recipients with an Aotearoa New Zealand bank account on the following dates:

  1. The final date in Semester 1 on which a student may receive a full refund for withdrawal from a course;
  2. Confirmation of enrolment date

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • They must have studied at the secondary school level in Aotearoa, New Zealand, or overseas at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu. International students who fulfill these requirements are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must not have enrolled in a degree program at any tertiary institute.
  • Participants of STAR courses, community education courses by tertiary institutions, and general or orientation interest programs of tertiary institutions for secondary school students are not eligible for the UC Engineering Top Achievers Scholarship.

Selection Criteria

Selection will take place based on the following criteria:

  • Applicants’ academic achievement, equivalent to achievement at National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA Level 2) or equivalent university entrance qualification
  • Cultural or sporting participation and community service
  • Leadership potential
  • General character
  • Strategic Objectives of the University
