Opportunity Description
The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) accepts applications for the 2024 Target Gender Equality Accelerator program. This nine-month program is designed for companies looking to set and achieve ambitious targets for women’s representation, equal pay, and leadership in business. Through performance analysis, capacity-building workshops, peer-to-peer learning, and multi-stakeholder dialogue, participating companies can extend their implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles and reinforce their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This program supports businesses in taking meaningful action towards SDG 5.5 for equal representation, participation, and leadership of women in business and SDG 8.5 for achieving equal pay by 2030.
Participants receive the latest data and research on gender equality and insights from UN partners and experts. They also develop actionable plans to accelerate progress in implementing gender equality.
Program Components:
With some in-person engagements based on country, this virtual program will provide enhanced and interactive e-learning tools and optional virtual regional/global opportunities. The key features include the following:
- Onboarding webinar for peer networking
- Performance analysis and discussions using WEPs Gender Gap Analysis Tool
- Policy Development workshops
- Three capacity-building workshops: Global Expert sessions
- Advocacy opportunities for advancing gender equality

Eligibility Criteria
You must meet the following requirements to apply for the program:
- Companies should be members of the UN Global Compact or willing to join.
- Commitment to learning about corporate target setting and advancing gender equality in the workplace.
- Willingness to appoint two representatives for program activities and an executive-level “ambassador” to support and participate in high-level events.
- They currently engage with a Global Compact Local Network or are willing to join if required.
- Target Gender Equality focuses mainly on private-sector participants.
- Non-business organizations interested in the initiative can contact their Global Compact Local Network for potential involvement opportunities.
