Eligibility Criteria

Earthna invites knowledge holders who are dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional knowledge systems. Eligible applicants include NGOs, community-based organizations, civil society organizations, and private sector entities.

The Earthna Prize seeks projects integrating traditional knowledge into sustainable solutions and policy support, focusing on local community needs, trust-building, and collaboration.

Nominee/Applicant:

  • Open to initiatives/projects under a legally incorporated entity.
  • Nominees can be from anywhere in the world.
  • Nominations and applications are both accepted.

Nominator:

  • It can be an organization or individual familiar with the nominee’s work.
  • You must fill out the nomination form and provide contact information for further details.
  • May request information from the nominee to complete the form.

Multiple Nominations:

  • Multiple nominations for the same project are allowed.
  • Nominators can submit several nominations for different projects.

Initiative/project:

  • The initiative/project must have operated for at least two years.
  • At least one dedicated team member must be available to communicate with the Earthna Prize team.
  • The initiatives/projects must be under a legally incorporated entity.
  • The application must be in English.
  • Accurate contact information for supporters is mandatory.

Additionally, applicants should meet the following prize criteria:

  • Addressing Identified Gaps: Applicants should effectively integrate traditional knowledge to address focus area needs, demonstrating a deep understanding of local contexts and challenges.
  • User Impact Assessment: Applicants should prioritize tangible benefits for end-users, emphasizing community empowerment and well-being.
  • Community Resilience and Engagement: Applicants should engage local communities, ensuring genuine consent and support and fostering ownership and collective responsibility.
  • Policy Influence and Outcome: Proposed solutions should influence policy development and implementation, promoting systemic change and sustainable development.

Selection Process

Following are the selection process highlights:

  • Submission of Applications/Nominations: Complete and submit the form before the Deadline.
  • Initial Review: Earthna will conduct due diligence to verify the information provided.
  • Review Committee Evaluation: A committee of experts evaluates submissions and proposes a shortlist of finalists.
  • Jury Evaluation: A jury of prominent figures from various sectors reviews the finalists and selects the winners.
  • Announcement of Finalists and Winners: Finalists are announced in October 2024, and winners are revealed at the Earthna Summit in December 2024.
