Opportunity Description

Women and girls continue to face discriminatory laws, policies, and practices that limit their human rights. In fact, the Gender Snapshot 2022 study warns that at the present rate of development, closing gaps in legal protection and repealing discriminatory legislation against women will take up to 286 years.

What can YOU and I do to help in this situation? Is Gender Equality a distant goal?

This course will introduce you to feminist activist methods to the abolition of gender discrimination, as well as an awareness of CEDAW, (the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), and Special Procedures. The issue “Do UN mechanisms work?” will be discussed.
