The United Nations Foundation is a charitable organization headquartered in Washington, DC that supports the United Nations and its activities. It was established in 1998 with a $1 billion gift to the United Nations by philanthropist Ted Turner, who believed the UN was crucial for addressing the world’s problems.
Now applications are open for 20 Internships at The United Nations Foundation. Internships are presently available for the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Approximately two months before each semester’s start, internships are announced. If there aren’t any openings posted right now, come back later to the United Nations Foundation’s official website:

Internship in Development and Partnership, United to Beat Malaria
The Development and Partnerships Intern will collaborate with the United to Beat Malaria Development Team to support the campaign’s vital fundraising efforts, including but not limited to developing and maintaining relationships with individual donors; researching potential corporate, faith-based, and service-based partners; and creating opportunities for employee engagement. Candidates must be knowledgeable about and interested in nonprofit development and grassroots campaigning. Flexibility and a desire to work on various campaign initiatives, such as general fundraising, stewardship, collaborations, and grassroots involvement, are essential.
Essential Purposes
- Send letters of gratitude to both new and recurring supporters.
- Make contact with new contributors to foster connections and learn about their motivations.
- Encourage mailings for donor stewardship.
- For partners and contributors, create Thank View video stewardship campaigns.
- Encourage research and outreach to the prospective community, faith-based, and educational institutions.
- Support the development and implementation of Giving Tuesday and year-end campaigns.
- Do some research on new possible business partners.
- For business and organizational partners of United to Beat Malaria, conduct research and provide employee involvement opportunities.
- More tasks as needed.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a recent college or university graduate (within eight months of graduation) or enrolled in a program leading to a degree during the internship.
- The capacity to manage stress and work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities are essential.
- Preferably, prior development experience.
- Ability to adhere to the tardiness and attendance rules.
- Interest in global health, international affairs, or other pertinent topics.
- Internet connectivity and a personal laptop computer are required.
- Availability for up to 29 hours of work per week is required.
- Must have the right to work in the USA.

Internship about Development, Girl Up
Girl Up is an international leadership development program that equips girls to take the lead in the fight for gender equality. They’ve taught 90,000 girls from all backgrounds to bring about real change for girls everywhere using resources in five languages and 5,000 Girl Up Clubs in nearly 130 countries. Girls have been given the skills and leadership training via Girl Up to become activists and champions for gender equality. Through their initiatives, they help girls develop a broader range of social impact skills, access a platform for sharing their stories, and use STEM for social good. Their female leaders help generate millions of dollars to fund United Nations programs that reach tens of thousands of girls worldwide, develop community-based movements, and promote meaningful policy change at the local and national levels.
Essential Purposes
- Ensure that the data in each Girl Up database is up to date and correct.
- Cleaning, gathering, and segmentation of research data.
- Write and send thank-you cards; assist with the follow-up.
- Make and send fundraising emails; assist with follow-up.
- Help create grant materials, funding proposals, and background paperwork for fundraising.
- Perform research and aid in preparing program reports and paperwork for endeavors involving partners and fund-raising activities.
- Assist in planning, carrying out, and wrapping up Team Girl fundraising activities.
- Utilize online communities like Salesforce to provide the team with logistical help.
- Attend meetings with current and potential partners of Girl Up.
- As required, assist the team with administrative and logistical tasks.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a recent college or university graduate (within eight months of graduation) or enrolled in a program leading to a degree during the internship.
- Either a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
- An advantage would include operational, partnerships, and administrative expertise, as well as organizing and youth involvement experience.

Internship in Digital Communication, Public Affairs
A cooperative, motivated team that creates a variety of material for the UN Foundation’s digital platforms will welcome this intern in digital communications. This position will actively participate in their team’s planning, development, and administration of content, assisting them in generating great digital engagement while displaying a unique flare. The Digital Communications Intern will be an intelligent, aspirational, and multi-skilled leader in digital communications. They will assist in daily content development for UN Foundation websites and social media and contribute new, innovative ideas for producing work that will halt people in their tracks. They will be proficient in planning, copywriting, research, online content management, design, and analytics, or they will be interested in developing such talents. Additionally, they will be deeply interested in using communications to create a better world and be enthusiastic about their causes and policy objectives, including climate change, gender equality, and global health.
Essential Purposes
- Together with your coworkers in public affairs, assist the production, administration, publication, and data analysis of digital material.
- As needed, create draft content for websites, toolkits, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Create and publish material for the websites of the UN Foundation and customized web pages.
- To inform content development, research subjects, audiences, creative assets (such as excellent and licensable photos), and channels.
- Take careful, thorough notes throughout ongoing team meetings.
- The upkeep and organization of assets on the websites and asset management systems of the UN Foundation.
- Support data gathering, analysis, and report creation.

Eligibility Criteria
- Actively enrolled in a graduate degree in public affairs, marketing, or communications at an approved institution or university.
- Bachelor’s degree is necessary. Cannot be a student in an undergraduate program right now.
- Outstanding writing abilities, particularly for digital mediums.
- Comfortable creating and producing website material, as well as a working knowledge of WordPress.
- Working knowledge of or experience with social media management platforms like Hootsuite.
- Working knowledge of or experience with in-platform data tools and Google Analytics, among other digital analytics programs.
- knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Smart, creative, and knowledgeable about current developments in digital communications.
- A desire to study and use theory in the workplace.

Internship, Events, Public Affairs
The Events intern will support the Events team at the United Nations Foundation throughout the planning and implementing evof ents, improving operations and increasing productivity across all duties. This function will play a crucial part in the events team by starting events, assisting with the foundation’s international affairs, and essential staffing events like the UN General Assembly, the annual gala, and internal celebrations. The ideal applicant is well-organized, meticulous, tech-savvy, appreciates disciplined project management methods, and has excellent interpersonal communication abilities. Although they do well in a collaborative setting, they can also handle duties independently. This internship will be a hybrid position, with some time spent at their DC headquarters.
Essential Purposes
- Help the events team conceive, arrange, and carry out online webinars, national events, and international events.
- Support the preparation of UNF’s annual flagship events, such as the We the Peoples gala, fall board meeting, and side activities for the UN General Assembly.
- Assist with check-in and other on-site logistics during hosted in-person events.
- About to organize and carry out overseas travel, assist the Senior Manager of International Engagement and Advance. Including gathering passports, processing visas, and creating briefing materials.
- Manage the kick-off calls and the events team intake form.
- Maintain current and accurate information in project trackers, spreadsheets, and shared calendars.
- In the NY and DC offices, the project manages internal room booking and reservation support.
- Take the lead on the business’s important occasions, such as luncheons, dinner receptions, holiday parties, and more!
- Help with event management communications, including BEOs, timelines, calendars, reports, diagrams, etc.
- Help maintain a list of internal preferred vendors and aid in forming and growing connections with vendors.

Internship about Global Operations, Girl Up
Girl Up is a girl-centered project for leadership development that emphasizes equity for women and girls in settings where they are underrepresented or unheard. They think that when girls and women are in positions of power, they seek to make the world fairer and just for everyone. The worldwide network of regional affiliates serves 125,000 girls in 130 countries that Girl Up runs. Through our girl-led Clubs, programs, and events, provide training for developing leadership skills supported by research. Girls are a force for good in society because they are connected to a community of peers working to advance gender equity and reform policies. Essential Purposes
- Help the Girl Up Global Operations team manage projects and organize tasks in Asana;
- By assisting with affiliate reporting efforts, note-taking, composing internal updates, and monitoring duties, you may support and learn about Girl Up’s worldwide affiliate network;
- Support Girl Up Awards for youth participants, including assisting with DocuSign preparation, weekly emailing to awardees, and data entry and tracking for award disbursements;
- Support Girl Up’s regional operations in Latin America and other priority regions;
- Participate in internal and external meetings and support with notetaking and follow-up as needed;
- Support team onboarding efforts and the planning of teamwide bonding activities;
- Conduct research projects for the Global Operations team as needed;

- Support for a variety of shifting agendas.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Salesforce and Asana expertise a plus.
- Dependability, transparency, and adaptability.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of enterprise.
- Dedication to studying and learning about other cultures.
- Arabic, Spanish, or Portuguese fluency is a bonus.
- Ability to work a 14-week term for 29 hours a week, with the opportunity to continue for another semester.
