Eligibility Critieria 

To be eligible for the Bayer Foundation Fellowships 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a master’s, PhD, or medical degree program.
  • Bachelor’s students and postdoctoral researchers are not eligible.
  • The fellowship cannot be undertaken at commercial organizations (e.g., private companies or industries).
  • Applicants must arrange their research placement at a host institution.
  • Students enrolled outside of Germany must complete their research stay within Germany.
  • Students enrolled at a German university must complete their research stay outside of Germany.
  • Must demonstrate a strong academic record with excellent performance in previous studies.

Field-Specific Criteria:

  • Drug Discovery Sciences (Otto Bayer Fellowship): Open to MSc or PhD students in natural sciences, pharmacy, or data science.
  • Agricultural Sciences (Jeff Schell Fellowship): Open to MSc or PhD students in natural sciences or data science.
  • Medical Sciences (Carl Duisberg Fellowship): Open to MSc, PhD, or medical students in human/veterinary medicine, medical engineering, applied medical sciences, public health, or data science in medicine.
