Applications for the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Residence Scholarship 2024 are now open. This Scholarship is to generate interest and understanding of people’s shared memory through World Heritage sites. The residence scholarship aims to establish global creative and artistic contacts between World Heritage sites. Also, one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention’s primary aims is to create links between people and promote international collaboration. For the World Heritage Convention, peace is a central concept. 

This Scholarship consists of two parts: residency at one of the World Heritage farms for one month and Kristofers in Stene or Erik-Anders in Asta. The next one is a total sum of about 4500 Euros available on a project that has an international dimension. Moreover, the project must bridge World Heritage sites artistically or culturally.

Region Gävleborg awards the scholarship to a person with an idea related to the UNESCO World Heritage list and the projects that connect the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland to another site in an artistic, cultural, or research way.

Benefits of the World Heritage Residence Scholarship 

Candidates will benefit from this Scholarship as follows: 

• One month staying and living in one or two World Heritage farms;
• About 4.500 Euro (50.000 SEK) is a grant to carry out the idea or project. 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants and projects should meet the following requirements: 

• Applicants can be individual researchers, artists, or other cultural actors 
• Applicants from around the world can apply for this resident Scholarship. 
• The project must connect World Heritage sites.
• Applicants can use the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland as a source of inspiration.
