Opportunity Description
The Jackson Wild Summit Fellowship 2022 is now accepting applications. The Jackson Wild Summit Fellowship is a comprehensive program that provides storytellers with a series of skill-building seminars, networking events, pitching opportunities, and mentorship to help them advance their projects in development. A visual media component must be included in all projects in production (e.g., short and long-form films, animation, VR/AR/360° video, a web series, a film impact campaign, and so on). Environmental justice, climate change, conservation, human-wildlife conflict, traditional ecological knowledge, and other themes are all possible topics for projects. Applicants will be requested to state their objectives clearly. The stage of development of a fellow’s project can be early, middle, or late.

Fellowship Duration: 4 months (8 days in person and the rest Virtual)
Jackson Wild Summit: 8 days in Austria (Sat, September 24 – Sun, October 1, 2022)
This four-month program will accept ten to fifteen in-person fellows, who will begin their journey virtually with workshops, gatherings, and mentorship, and will conclude with an exciting lineup of exclusive skill-building and networking opportunities at the 31st annual Jackson Wild Summit in Burgenland, Austria.
Benefits of Jackson Wild Summit Fellowship:
Fellows will enjoy the following benefits:
- A complimentary ticket to the Jackson Wild Summit in 2022.
- Covered housing throughout the fellowship summit (Sat, September 24 – Sun, October 1).
- A monetary stipend to cover travel expenses.
Fellows will also benefit from the following:
- All fellows will be matched with individual mentors
- Two virtual workshops before the Summit
- Two in-person workshops at the Summit
- One virtual networking event before the Summit
- A social hour for fellows and mentor/board members on Sunday night
- A gathering for all fellows on Tuesday evening
- Fellows will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to sign up for consulting slots to obtain specific advice on ongoing projects.
- Individual support with fellows’ specific career goals and projects
- Early sign-up for speed pitching
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must have at least two years of experience working in the industry:
- Open to all storytellers from across the world • Applicants must be working on at least one project.
- The following are examples of ideal candidates:
- Creators with a focus on visual media whose backgrounds are outside of nature-centered topics but who are looking to “genre hop” into the wildlife filmmaking industry:
- Emerging to mid-career wildlife, science, and natural history storytellers who are interested in growing their network and gaining a deeper understanding of the industry as a whole
- Photographers specializing in natural history and animals who are interested in branching out into video
