Opportunity Description

Applications are open for Zhengzhou University Henan Provincial Government Scholarship. The government of Henan Province established the Henan Provincial Government Scholarship to help provincial universities attract outstanding international scholars and students for both degree and non-degree programs in the province.

Benefits:

  • The scholarship will be used to pay for the intern’s tuition. Candidates are responsible for paying any leftover tuition if the scholarship does not cover the entire cost. If not, the scholarship will be immediately terminated.
  • Different educational programs receive varying degrees of financial aid from the Henan Government Scholarship. The fellowship awards CNY 40,000 annually to PhD candidates for a maximum of four years. For a maximum of three years, master’s students are eligible for tuition aid of up to CNY 30,000 per year.
  • Participants in pre-degree and bachelor’s programs receive CNY 10,000 and CNY 15,000 annually, respectively, while students in other scholar programs and Chinese language programs receive CNY 5,000 per semester. The funds are mostly used to cover tuition; any excess expenses must be covered by the Student.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The candidate needs to be a non-Chinese national, in excellent health, and criminal history free.
  • Observe university policies as well as laws and regulations in China.
  • Possess a positive outlook on learning and have demonstrated success in the past in their academic endeavors.
  • Candidates must be no older than 25 and have a high school diploma in order to be considered for the pre-degree and undergraduate programs.
  • Candidates for master’s programs must be under 35 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants to PhD programs must be no older than 45 years old and hold a master’s degree.
  • The maximum age for applicants to the Chinese language program is 55 years old, and they must have a high school diploma.
  • Candidates for the general scholar program must be no older than 30 and sophomores or higher, or hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates for the advanced scholar program must be master’s degree holders or above, with a 40-year age limit.
  • The maximum age for applicants to the research scholar program is 50 years old, and they must hold an associate professorship or above in addition to a PhD.

Language proficiency requirement:

  • Candidates for programs taught in Chinese need to be proficient in the language and have a record of HSK exams.
  • For English-language programs, non-native English speakers must submit their IELTS or TOEFL test results.
  • English language proficiency is required of applicants from English-speaking nations for programs taught in the language.
  • It is not required of applicants to Chinese language schools to have any prior knowledge of the language.

  • Certified certificate or notarized copy of highest diploma (if the applicant is a student or works, they must produce a student certificate or an employment certificate). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of their translations in one of these two languages.
  • Applicants for diploma or degree programs should produce official transcripts from previous studies.
  • Applicants for bachelor’s programs (general scholars programs), master’s programs (advanced scholars programs), and doctoral programs (research scholars programs) must submit a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English that is at least 500, 1000, or 2000 words long.
  • Applicants to master’s programs (advanced scholars programs) and doctorate programs (research scholars programs) must submit two recommendation letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
  • Applicants for music, fine arts, and other art-related programs are asked to submit original work that meets the school’s requirements.
  • An officially acknowledged report on Chinese or English language proficiency tests, or a similar language ability certificate.
  • A foreigner’s physical examination record and blood test report must be filled in either Chinese or English.
  • No criminal record. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized copies of their translations in one of these two languages.
  • If the applicants are under the age of 18, a Letter of Authorization or Guardian Book in China issued by Chinese embassies in other countries must be supplied.
  • Pre-admission notification.

Visa Application:

  • Scholarship students should apply for a student visa at the Chinese embassy in their home country, together with their admission notice, visa application form, Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, and blood test results. Anyone who enters China with another sort of passport or visa is considered to have willfully given up the scholarship and will be unable to register with the university.
