Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Reporting Fellowships to COP29 (Fully Funded to Azerbaijan)

CCMP Fellows will attend the UN climate negotiations in Baku from November 9 to November 24, 2024.
Covered expenses include economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance, and ground transportation.
Organizers will assist with press accreditation and logistical support.
Visa costs will be reimbursed, but obtaining visas is the responsibility of the Fellow.
Before COP29, Fellows will receive informational resources and technical support, including a pre-COP virtual workshop.
On-site activities include an orientation session, daily briefings, networking events, and interviews with officials guided by experienced climate journalists and EJN trainers.

Applicants must be professional journalists representing established media outlets, reporting from eligible countries.
Commit to attending COP29 in Baku in person from November 9 to November 24, 2024.
Demonstrate proficiency in English.
They have prior experience reporting climate change and outlined potential story ideas for the conference.
Agree to participate in all Fellowship activities.
Submit an up-to-date resume/CV.
Provide a letter of support from an editor, producer, or supervisor confirming publication or broadcast plans.
Submit recent journalistic work samples on climate change topics, accompanied by English synopses. Clips must focus on climate change and be from the last 12 months.

Additional Details:

Only English-language applications will be considered.
Applications are welcome from journalists of all mediums and affiliations.
Previous recipients of EJN-supported COP attendance are ineligible.
A virtual reporting fellowship for COP29 coverage will be launched post-fellowship selection.
The CCMP reserves the right to disqualify applicants engaged in unethical professional conduct, such as plagiarism or misrepresentation of content.

The selection committee will consider the following criteria before selecting the fellows:

Demonstrated expertise in climate change, climate policy, and environmental topics.
Comprehensive reporting strategy for COP, including story concepts, estimated output, and plans for ongoing development.
Partnership with a reputable media outlet, supported by an editor’s letter committing to publish or broadcast COP coverage.

Additionally, diversity in media representation across various outlets, formats, and geographical regions is considered when selecting fellows.
