Organization Description

The Yunus Emre Institute is a global non-profit organization founded in 2007 by the Turkish government. It is named after the famed 14th-century poet Yunus Emre and strives to promote Turkish language and culture worldwide. It is described as a Turkish soft power entity and was established by a decree issued by Recep Tayyip Erdoan. The institute’s activities, branches, and networking have been most extensively concentrated in and around the Balkans region.
