The Mozilla Tech Society Fellowship 2024-26 applications are open to technologists and civil society organizations. The fellowship is a unique opportunity at the intersection of technology and civil society, addressing the power and resource imbalances faced by public interest technologists and civil society organizations in the Global Majority.

This fellowship aims to strengthen the impact of critical civil society organizations by bringing together experienced technologists and civil society leaders to address societal issues intersecting with the digital world collaboratively.

This fellowship aims to enhance participants’ leadership capabilities by offering avenues to significantly influence local initiatives, establish meaningful connections within a global community of fellow public interest leaders, magnify their impact, and secure the necessary space and support for pursuing personal projects.

Participants will become part of a collective of public interest technologists and human rights organizations spanning Eastern Africa, MENA, Brazil, India, and Mexico. This fellowship provides a platform for technologists and civil society organizations, each contributing their distinct expertise, to collaborate within the cohort toward a common goal.

Eligibility Criteria

Ideal candidates for the Mozilla Tech Society Fellowship should:

  • Be mission-driven with a commitment to social justice.
  • Demonstrate collaboration skills and partnership potential with a host organization.
  • Focus on creating measurable impact at the intersection of technology and society.
  • Understand how to leverage proposals for broader systemic change.
  • Show initiative, autonomy, and effective communication skills.
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of technology-related experience.
  • Reside or have work authorization in the host organization’s country or region.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of relevant cultural nuances and the context of the host country. Note that organizations may have language-specific requirements.
  • Possess a strategic mindset and a collaborative orientation, with a track record of identifying problems and proposing solutions at the intersection of technology and social justice issues.
  • Capable of carrying out fellowship work at a level generally consistent with full-time engagement.
  • Commit to a minimum engagement of 1.5 years and a maximum of 2 years.
  • Possess working fluency in English.

  • Define an issue at the intersection of technology and social justice within your identified potential host organization, using the fellowship as a platform.
  • Outline key results achievable during the fellowship.
  • Suggest alignment with the host organization.
  • Summarize a potential personal project for your fellowship, detailing the issue it aims to address.
  • Present a history of your professional experience.

How to Apply?

The application process involves two steps:

  1. Registration:
  • Complete the Mozilla Fellows 2024-2026 Registration Form on Fluxx by the deadline.
  • Within two business days, expect an email from Fluxx with instructions to set your password on Mozilla’s Fluxx portal.
  • Your registration responses become part of the full application and will be assessed by reviewers. Ensure accurate and complete information on the registration form.
