What is a Global Citizenship Act?

Since its approval in 2015, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have become the hallmark of modern-day sustainable development. To attain these goals by 2030, businesses, governments, people, and civil society must go beyond business as usual to engage with the SDGs, which is where the ‘Acts of Global Citizenship’ come in!

Benefits

  • The top ten Acts will be asked to present their Acts live, and the top three Acts of the Global Citizenship Challenge will earn cash rewards.
  • Winners will also gain access to internships, networking opportunities, and online showcases to help them further develop their Global Citizenship and have a good effect on the globe.

Eligibilities

  • Changemakers from all across the world can enter the competition.
  • The several aspects of a Global Citizenship Act:
    • Spread the word: Tell organizers and others what you did, why you did it, and how you did it; only then can your ‘Act’ inspire others, both locally and worldwide.
    • Take one step at a time: Acts of Global Citizenship, no matter how little, contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, whether it’s a family member or friend becoming more gender-sensitive, or your corporation updating its sustainability strategy.
    • Get Creative: You pick how your Act of Global Citizenship will take shape, from initiating a difficult conversation with friends and family to organizing a recycling campaign at work.
    • Be realistic: Global Citizenship activities might take two hours, two days, or even two months. It is entirely up to you – and the individuals with whom you choose to interact.
    • Keep it Simple: Anyone should be able to lead a Global Citizenship Act.
    • Drive your Passion: Individual enthusiasm and determination to create social change are combined in powerful acts of global citizenship.
    • Leverage your unique asset(s): Your Act of Global Citizenship will be a piece of cake if you leverage your strengths and skill set to create the change you want to see!
    • Stay Local:  Connect your Act of Global Citizenship to an existing community.
    • Think Global: Keep an eye out for what global viewpoints might bring to the local scene… and inject some ‘Global Citizenship’ into your act.
