Opportunity Description

The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) Youth Fellowship Program is a comprehensive seven-month initiative to cultivate the leadership skills of youth from CVF member countries. Led by the Youth Climate Reality Leaders in the Philippines, this program seeks to empower young individuals to engage in climate policy discussions and decision-making processes actively. By providing capacity-building opportunities, the fellowship program endeavors to foster a new generation of climate advocates and negotiators who can effectively address the challenges posed by climate change.

Benefits of the CVF Youth Fellowship

The fellowship program offers comprehensive financial support, including funding for attendance at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Additionally, fellows will receive training from climate science and policy experts, empowering them to participate actively in international climate discussions. Furthermore, fellows will have access to a network of like-minded individuals by creating the CVF Youth Fellows Network, facilitating ongoing support and collaboration on critical climate campaigns.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility criteria for the 2024 CVF Youth Fellowship:

  • Applicants must be citizens of CVF member countries.
  • Applicants must secure an endorsement from their country’s UNFCCC Focal Point/Head of Delegation for a COP29 accreditation badge.
  • Applicants must be currently working or volunteering with a youth-led or youth-serving climate organization.
  • Applicants must be able to attend the entire UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 8 to 25, 2024.
  • Applicants must have excellent written and verbal skills in English.
  • Applicants must hold a passport valid until November 2025.

Selection Process

The selection committee, composed of individuals from the CVF Secretariat and The Climate Reality Project Philippines, will evaluate applications based on predetermined criteria. The process includes an open call for applications, shortlisting of applicants, panel interviews, and the final announcement of CVF Youth Fellows.
