The Diana Award, which was instituted in honor of Diana, Princess of Wales, is the most esteemed recognition that a young person, between the ages of 9 and 25, can obtain for their humanitarian or social action efforts.

The Diana Award is the oldest award that is exclusively given to young people through a retrospective nomination process. It was founded on the belief that young people have the ability to change the world, and its supporters are passionate about identifying and honoring the thousands of young people who are already doing this.

Dian Prize:

  • The certificates for the successful foreign nominees will be mailed in January 2025, and they will be invited to a virtual event on foreign Ceremony Day in December 2024.

The Legacy Prize:

  • The biannual Legacy Award is open to both domestic and foreign recipients of the Diana Award. The London Science Museum in London will host the Legacy Award event in March 2024. The 20 Legacy Awards will be given to the nominees who are selected.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have the following:

  • Be between the 9–25 age range.
  • Have been engaged in their respective activity for a minimum of a year.
  • To suggest an applicant for the award, one must be at least eighteen years old.
  • The nominee needs to be a professional acquaintance of the youth—a teacher or youth worker, for example.
  • Nominations from the nominee’s relatives or family will not be allowed.

  • To verify the nomination, the proposer may submit contact information and a letter of support from another supporter.
  • Further proof of the nominee’s social action activities may be supplied by the nominator (optional).

Selection Criteria:

The applications will be reviewed by an external and regional panel of judges, who will then choose the winners. The following standards will be used by the judges to evaluate the nominees’ submissions:

  • VISION
    • Explain the nominee’s dedication to community service.
    • Name the reason or causes that they support.
    • Justify their choice of causes and areas of passion.
  • IMPACT
    • Describe the nominee’s work’s regional and worldwide effects.
    • Talk about their objectives and development.
    • Add any criticism or assessments on their work.
  • Motivating others
    • Provide examples of the nominee’s ability to uplift and assist other young people.
    • Explain their leadership or mentorship position in the community.
    • Describe the ways in which they inspire others to take up social causes.
  • YOUTH-DIRECTED
    • Describe the social action initiatives that the nominee started and oversaw.
    • Talk about their success-oriented involvement with networks.
  • Journal of Social Action
    • Describe the nominee’s personal struggles.
    • Describe how they overcame these obstacles and how their work was informed by them.
    • Talk about the takeaways from their experiences.

Note: “Optimistic social action” describes non-harmful acts that support the anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-LGBTQIA+ bullying positions of The Diana Award.

Documents Requirement:

A Supporter (any person or organization over the age of 18) must certify the following in order for your candidacy for the Diana Award to be accepted:

  • Knowledge of the nominee’s social action activities, together with information on how they learned about it.
  • Unaware of any argument against the nominee’s receiving the Diana Award.

Observations:

  • The Supporter must be different from the Nominator and cannot be a friend or family member of the Nominee.
  • The declaration may be in written or visual form. Give the full name, occupation, affiliation (if any), relationship to the nominee, phone number or email address, and permission to be contacted of the Supporter.
