Opportunity Description
The British Council Study UK Alumni Awards are on the way! International alums out of the UK can apply for these awards to raise their international profile, build professional networks, establish business connections, and win a trip to the UK. The award winners will have a chance to press opportunities to share their success globally and raise their profile. For this purpose, they will receive an invitation to a celebration in the UK.
These Alumni Awards will be organized by or on behalf of the British Council in different countries to recognize and honor the outstanding achievements made by alums. Students who have studied at or for a qualification awarded by a registered or listed UK Higher Education Institution (HEI) can apply for the awards. Â
Alums can submit only one application for the Alumni Awards. If the applicant’s current country of residence hosts national-level Alumni Awards, their application will be considered for those national awards in addition to the Global Awards. Partner countries hosting run national-level awards but are separate from the Global Awards.Â

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants who apply for the Study UK Alumni Awards should mandatorily agree and accept the Entry Rules by ticking the box on the application submission page. However, applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Should have studied within the last 15 years (i.e., 2007 – 2022)
- Be a university or college student and have studied at or for a qualification awarded by a registered or listed UK Higher Education Institution (HEI). Â
- Alumni must be out of the UK
- Accept and agree to the photography and recording rulesÂ
- Agree with the publicity rights so that the British Council publish the names and photographs of the finalists and winners as neededÂ
- Applicants should consider the scale of impact, the influence of UK education on success, media traction, inspiration to the next generation, quality of application, and potential capacity to be an ambassador for UK education in their applications
- Provide three statements describing their success and achievements within the context of the award category Â
- Submit all required documents as asked by the CouncilÂ
Selection ProcedureÂ
Once the deadline ends, an external agency ensures that the applicants meet the eligibility criteria and select the top 80 applications from four categories in each of seven regions, including:
- Middle East
- North Africa
- Americas
- East Asia and the Pacific
- Sub Saharan Africa
- Europe and Wider Europe
- South Asia
The external agency then reviews and assesses the applications against the selection criteria and answers questions on a scale of impact, the influence of UK education on success, media traction, inspiration to the next generation, quality of application, and potential capacity to be an ambassador for UK education.
Next, the agency forwards the shortlist of the candidates to the British Council. The British Council delivers the shortlist to a relevant regional panel of 14 internal and external judges. The judging panel will select 12 finalists from each region and finally selects 28 global finalists in total. At this level, the applications of 28 finalists and finalists at any national level awards are verified by the applicants’ UK HEIs and celebrated digitally via a campaign on Study UK social media.
Finally, a global shortlisting panel of nine high-profile judges will review the 28 global finalists’ applications to select the four Global Award winners of the award categories.
