Organization Description

The United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) is the UN’s human settlements and sustainable urban development program. It was founded in 1978 as a result of the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I), which took place in Vancouver, Canada in 1976. UN-Habitat is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, in the United Nations Office. The United Nations General Assembly has authorized the promotion of socially and environmentally sustainable towns and communities with the goal of providing adequate housing for everybody. read more
