Organization Description

The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) is an international organization that offers research training, career development, and networking opportunities to women scientists at all stages of their careers in the developing world. It was founded in 1987 and first officially opened in 1993. The Third World Organization for Women in Science was the previous name of the organization (TWOWS). It is a UNESCO program unit based at the World Academy of Sciences offices in Trieste, Italy. The organization’s goal is to bring together eminent scientists from both the developing and developed worlds with the goal of assisting them in the development process.
