NextEra Energy, Inc. is a leading American energy company with 58 GW of generating capacity and over 14,900 employees across the U.S. and Canada. In 2020, it reported $18 billion in revenue and, as of October 2024, holds the title of the world’s largest electric utility by market capitalization at $170 billion.

Its subsidiaries include Florida Power & Light (FPL), serving nearly 10 million people in Florida, and NextEra Energy Resources (NEER), the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from wind and solar. NEER also operates plants powered by natural gas, nuclear energy, and oil. Despite its renewable focus, 41% of its capacity in 2020 came from fossil fuels and non-renewables. NextEra ranked 167th on the Fortune 500 in 2018.
