King’s College London (KCL) is a public research university in London, England, and a founding college and member institution of the federal University of London. King’s was founded in 1829 by King George IV and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, as a university institution (but the foundations of King’s medical school, St. Thomas, extend back to the 16th century, with the first recorded instruction in 1561).
