Organization Description
Founded in 2019, ETH4D is an ETH-wide initiative that aims to strengthen ETH’s engagement for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
ETH4D aims to combine technological innovation with a profound understanding of people’s behavior and their environments to identify new solutions for improving the lives of people living in poverty. We, therefore, support research, which combines diverse knowledge and skills from engineering to the social sciences, from the natural sciences to the humanities, and promotes the collaboration between scientific research, civil society, industry and policy.
Furthermore, ETH4D aims to educate future leaders of sustainable development. ETH4D trains a new generation of engineers and natural scientists able to develop, implement and scale world-changing innovations with a global perspective.
ETH4Ds activities include a joint master’s programme in mechatronic engineering together with Ashesi University in Ghana, a collaborative summer school with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a research partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a Development Engineering seminar at ETH Zurich as well as scholarships for doctoral programmes.
