Organization Description
Through cooperative study, research, and debate, the East-West Center promotes better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific. The Center, which was established by the United States Congress in 1960, serves as a clearinghouse for information and research on pressing topics of public concern, bringing individuals together to share ideas, gain knowledge, and formulate policy options. The Center is a public, nonprofit organization that receives money from the US government as well as contributions from private organizations, people, foundations, corporations, and governments in the region.
