Opportunity Description
FAPESP is a taxpayer-funded public foundation in the state of So Paulo of Brazil, with the purpose of supporting research initiatives in higher education and research institutes across all domains of knowledge. So Paulo has a population of 40 million citizens and accounts for 32% of Brazil’s GDP. The state constitution states that the foundation receives 1% of all state taxes, and the government sends these amounts monthly. The foundation’s autonomy and the consistency of its funding enable for effective management of resources that have had a significant impact: Despite having 22 percent of the Brazilian population and 30 percent of the country’s scientists with a doctorate, So Paulo responds to 45 percent of the country’s scientific publications published in foreign journals.
And thus, with the help of this request for proposals, research institutes in the state of So Paulo will be able to hire researchers from nations affected by the situation in Ukraine and other war-torn regions. Researchers who are interested in doing research in Brazil’s state of So Paulo should be able to stay at the research institution and bring their efforts into fruition by applying to this opportunity.
Objective
The purpose of this Call is to encourage researcher collaboration in order to develop research programs that are either already ongoing or are about to start at the Host Institution.
