Founded in 1877, the University of Detroit Mercy is the most prestigious university in the United States. In the fields of clinical psychology, business, dentistry, education, law, engineering, architecture, nursing, and allied health, it offers more than a hundred academic degrees and courses.

At Detroit Mercy, institutional financial aid may be available to international students (not including coursework for the ALCP). In the US, students who meet the requirements but are not citizens of the US are not eligible for federal or state funding.

Application Types:
- Transfer: previously enrolled as a second- or fourth-year student pursuing a second bachelor’s degree.
- Freshman: either as a senior in high school or did not attend college following graduation.
- High School Dual Enrolled: Seniors and juniors who are presently enrolled in high school attend Detroit Mercy concurrently.
- Graduate: own a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a master’s or higher degree.
- Readmission: desired to re-enroll in Detroit Mercy at the same level. Notes on readmissions:
- -If you are a graduate student at Detroit Mercy and earned your bachelor’s degree there, you are not eligible for readmission.
- -If a student is returning less than two years after their last semester of enrollment, they are not required to file a readmission application. Instead, give the Office of the Registrar a call at 313-993-3313.
Benefits
- First-year full-time students at Detroit Mercy are eligible for a scholarship, which is given out by the admissions office. Each academic year, awards totaling up to $10,000 are given out equally between the autumn and winter quarters. These scholarships are renewable, but they cannot be combined with other institutional awards or savings.
- A Detroit Mercy grant is awarded to transfer students who enroll full-time at the university from an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada through the admissions office. Awards ranging from $1,000 to $9,000 may be given out each academic year, split equally between the winter and fall quarters. If these funds are renewable, they must be used in conjunction with other university discounts or awards.
Eligibility
- Applicants may be of any nationality.
- Taking classes in any field or for a bachelor’s degree.
- Students have to enroll in an undergraduate degree program at a university.
Documents Requirements
- The following are minimum academic requirement for an international students
After you admitted academically by the university, the following documents are required
- Bank statement showing the amount cover your first year tuition and living expenses
- A copy of your passport pages (minimum validation one year)

- You need to pass Accuplacer ESL Test upon arriving at Detroit Mercy if you have not present them the TOEFL or IELTS certificate. If you have taken the TOEFL or IEILTS test or want to take, your scores should match the following options
- TOEFL IBT score over 80
- TOEFL PB score over 550
- IELTS score over 6.5
- Duolingo score over 105
