Opportunity Description
The University of Brescia offers 2 STAR scholarships for the Academic Year 2025/2026 for students from developing countries, including Afghanistan, to pursue their bachelor’s degrees at the University of Brescia in Italy.
Scholarships are limited to the normal duration of the study program to students wishing to enroll in undergraduate courses offered in Italian and English. Courses in English are only Business and economics, and various other courses are offered in Italian.

Scholarship benefits:
- Tuition fee exemption (except the regional tax of 156 Euro)
- Annual amount of scholarship of Euro 6150
- A reserved place at university residence
- The grant may not be awarded to students who receive/are receiving other grants from Italian public bodies for the academic year in question. Students awarded with an international scholarship may participate in an international mobility programme for a maximum length of six months.
 Eligibility Requirements for STAR Scholarship
Candidates interested in applying to STAR Scholarship must:
- have a high school degree achieved in a non-EU country that was obtained after minimum 12 years of education granting access to undergraduate programs in the country it was obtained.
- have nationality and residence in a developing country pursuant to Decree n. 440/2024 February 13th, 2024 or one of the following countries defined as priority by the Italian Agency for Cooperation: Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Palestinian territories (see annexes 2)
- Candidates can choose between courses held in Italian or English. The annual amount of the scholarship is € 6,150.00 Three scholarships of the total of STAR scholarships will be assigned as a priority to students coming form an African country, including the scholarships assigned for enrolment in a Master Degree course as per Call for application issued with Rector Decree n. 1236 of the 20th December 2024.
- Must be enrolling for the first time at an Italian university.

How to Apply for the STAR Scholarship 2025
Applicants must submit their scholarship applications by 12:00 PM Italian time (11:00 AM UTC) on March 31, 2025, using the PICA platform available at Apply NOW button.
- Each applicant can choose only one bachelor’s degree and apply for one scholarship in the online application.
- After completing the form, the application must be printed, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the system.
- The following personal details must be provided: name, surname, gender, date of birth, country of birth, nationality, address, email, and phone number.
Documents Required for STAR Scholarship Application:
- A valid identity document (passport preferred).
- High school diploma with an official certification that includes:
- Qualification name and level.
- Final grade achieved, including minimum and maximum possible scores.
- Year of completion.
- Name and address of the issuing institution.
- If the final degree has not been obtained yet, a certificate of enrollment must be provided.
- If the diploma was obtained in less than 12 years of education, proof of at least one year of post-secondary education with a transcript of completed courses must be submitted.
- Certified translation of qualification documents into Italian or English if the original documents are not issued in these languages.
- Italian language proficiency certificate (minimum CEFR B2) for applicants enrolling in Italian-taught programs. Acceptable certifications must be issued by a CLIQ system body or the Dante Alighieri University of Reggio Calabria. If unavailable, enrollment will be conditional on passing an Italian proficiency test at the University of Brescia.
- English language proficiency certificate (minimum CEFR B2) for applicants enrolling in the Business and Economics course. Accepted certificates are listed on the CLA Language Certificates page:

- Curriculum vitae (in Italian or English, max. 2 pages).

The selection board reserves the right to request additional documents and/or conduct remote interviews via video conferencing.
Important Notes:
- Applications that are incomplete, missing required documents, submitted incorrectly, or received after the deadline will not be accepted.
