Opportunity Description

The Section for Inclusive Quality Education (IQE), one of the six sections of UNESCO Bangkok, has recently announced an internship position for Inclusive Education (IE) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program. The intern will work with the responsible Program Specialist under the overall guidance and supervision of the Section Chief. The intern also assists the Inclusive Basic Education Team in supporting (IE/ECCE) program.

An applicant who works as an intern will gain practical knowledge of the role of UNESCO and its contributions to the Member States in the education sector. In addition, the intern is expected to enhance his/her understanding of education development of the Asia-Pacific region in the areas of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Inclusive Education (IE). Also, the intern will get useful knowledge and skills on an international and regional level.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements to be eligible for the intern position. The candidates should:

  • Currently admitted in relevant graduate/post-graduate program OR graduated within the last 12 months from the mentioned degree program 
  • Be proficient in written and spoken English. Familiarity with other UNESCO official languages is an asset
  • Have strong research and analytical skills
  • Have worked or studied in education programs with young children, children with disabilities, girls, ethnolinguistic minority children, other marginalized groups, etc. 
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills
  • Have good skills in event organization 
  • Be fully familiar with computer, IT skills, office package, and infographic design 
  • Be a creative, innovative, and independent problem-solving person 
  • Be able to work efficiently in a multicultural context 

Intern’s Particular Tasks

In particular, the intern will contribute to the program through the following tasks:

  • Helps in the organization of meetings, taking minutes, and supporting activities.
  • Assists in the organization of high-level events as necessary
  • Assists and supports the implementation of current and future projects on IE and ECCE
  • Helps in preparing and producing ECCE and IE-related reports, webpage materials, and presentations
  • Supports and welcomes any other activities or tasks for the program areas as required

Selection Procedure 

The selection committee will review candidates based on the criteria in the vacancy notice. Candidates may have tests and/or assessments and a competency-based interview. The committee uses communication technology like video, telephone calls, or email correspondence for assessment and interviews. The final candidates’ selection will be subject to reference checks based on the provided information. Remember that UNESCO does not charge a fee for the recruitment process.
