Eligibility Criteria

The program requirements are as follows:

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.3/4.0 or equivalent
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate action, and interdisciplinary research
  • Strong publication record in reputable Scopus-indexed journals

This fellowship program provides two types of projects as follows:

  1. Internally Funded Projects – Fellows join UAEU-led research projects aligned with sustainability goals. Ongoing projects include:

    • Turbine Blade Cooling Innovation (Mechanical & Aerospace Eng.) – Dr. Mahmoud Elgendi
    • CO2-to-Fuel Catalysts (Chemistry) – Prof. Abbas Khaleel
    • Urban Air Mobility Propulsion (Mechanical & Aerospace Eng.) – Dr. Farag Omar
    • BioPolyurethane from Date Palm Waste (Chemical & Petroleum Eng.) – Prof. Basim Abu Jdayil
    • Energy Performance in UAE Buildings (Architectural Eng.) – Dr. Young Ki Kim
  2. Candidate Proposal-Based Projects – Applicants may propose their research ideas. If selected, they will be matched with a faculty expert and research center aligned with their topic.
