Opportunity Description

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and S.N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India, have offered fellowship opportunities for postgraduate candidates. Fellows will benefit from the program as follows:

  • Monthly stipend to cover living costs, including food.
  • Free accommodation is available for the fellow.

Note: Monthly Stipend does not cover health insurance; therefore, a small amount is deductible to partial medical costs at governmental health institutions   

Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates for these fellowships must:

  • Be under 35 years old by December 31 of the application year.
  • Hold citizenship from a developing country (excluding India) without holding a temporary or permanent residency visa for India or any developed country.
  • Must have a Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics, with at least five years of combined undergraduate and postgraduate studies from a recognized institution.
  • Be accepted by a department at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. Applicants should visit the Centre’s website to find a potential supervisor and contact them.
  • Direct requests for acceptance to the Dean (Academic Programme) at [email protected] with the “SNB FORM” and a copy of their CV to request an Acceptance Letter.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency if their education was not in English.
  • Assure returning to their home country after the fellowship.
  • Not engage in other work during the fellowship period.
  • Be responsible for any accompanying family members financially.
