Opportunity Description
The World Academy of Science/TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharifi 2025 award nominations are now open. This program is available for all TWAS members, including science academics, national research councils, universities, and scientific institutions in developing and developed countries.
The Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Award is given annually to honor female scientists from countries that are not very advanced in science and technology. This award gives them $4,000 in cash, thanks to Professor Al-Kharafi. This year, 2025, the award will be given for achievements in Medical Science.
Therefore, if you are a scientist and fulfill the requirements, do not miss the opportunity to apply. Also, please note that self-nomination is not accepted for this award.

Eligibility Criteria
Nominees should meet the following criteria:
- Nominations for the 2025 are open in Medical Science
- Nominees must be female scientists from Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (ST-lagging) countries, residing and working there for at least two years before nomination.
- Early submissions are encouraged.
- Pay attention to maximum character limits before compiling nominations.

Required Information/Material for Nomination
Complete nominations must include the following:

- Nominator contact details.
- Nominee contact details (self-nominations and jury member nominations not accepted).
- Authorization from the nominee for personal data processing.
- Suggested citation (15-20 words).
- Supporting statement on the nominee’s contribution to the Medical Sciences.
- Account of the nominee’s time spent abroad in the past two years.
- PhD information.
- Membership in academies and societies.
- Awards and honors received.
- List of 10 most significant publications.
- Nominee’s brief CV and complete list of publications (to be uploaded separately).
- Nominee’s h-index in Google Scholar and associated number of citations.
