With its headquarters located in Birmingham, UK, Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a global humanitarian aid organization that is non-profit and non-governmental. It is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and Red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief, and it has consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.

The TVET Officer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Helps to revise the TVET strategy, working closely with key policy makers and stakeholders to ensure that the document reflects the government’s overarching goals. As part of the preparation for the revision process, a situation analysis will also be conducted.
  • Take part in technical working groups and discussions pertaining to the TVET strategy, and assist DAIL in reaching out to TVET stakeholders to solicit their feedback on the policy document and upcoming projects.
  • To effectively carry out the intended field activities, coordinate and fortify relationships with pertinent stakeholders (governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations).

  • A bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in any relevant field from a recognized university, including economics, agriculture, public policy, education, development studies, skills development, human resources development, or TVET.
  • A minimum of three to five years of professional experience, preferably in the TVET collection and stakeholder coordination capacity with a global organization or a regional NGO.
  • Strong written and spoken command of both Dari and English.
  • Ability to work in a multiethnic team and handle a variety of tasks demonstrated.
  • Exceptionally strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to build solid working relationships with various industry and government stakeholders.
  • Requires initiative, teamwork, and a track record of working in a demanding workplace.
  • Pleasant disposition and effective communication abilities.
  • The capacity to prioritize several tasks.
  • A capacity for group work.
  • Willing to accompany other project personnel into the field if required.
  • Sound computer and language skills, both in English and locally.
  • Be able to fulfill deadlines and arrive on time.
  • It is necessary to speak Pashto, Dari, and English fluently.
  • Strong proficiency with computer programs (MS Office, Outlook, the internet, etc.).
