Opportunity Description

The IWMF Courage in Journalism Awards 2025 celebrate the extraordinary bravery, persistence, and resilience of women and nonbinary journalists worldwide. These awards recognize those who, in the face of adversity, go to great lengths to uncover the truth, set high standards for reporting under duress, and demonstrate unwavering commitment to press freedom.

The Awards celebrate courageous journalists, including photojournalists, who courageously report on taboo topics, navigate hostile environments, and share challenging truths. Honourees showcase a commitment to press freedom, often overcoming unjust online and offline conditions, emerging as leaders in their field.

Eligible candidates are full-time or freelance women or nonbinary professionals in reporting, writing, editing, photography, or production, working in any country, regardless of nationality.
