The American College of Cardiology is a nonprofit medical organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1949. Cardiovascular experts who satisfy the requirements are awarded credentials. The ACC now accepts submissions for the Young Investigator Awards (YIA) at ACC.23/WCC. The YIA competition supports and honors promising young scientists who are essential to the advancement of the cardiology sector. The following categories for cutting-edge research submissions:
- Clinical Investigations: Submissions to this area should primarily seek to advance clinical medicine for patients. Studies that fall under this category can take various forms, such as observational cohort studies, biomarker studies, imaging studies, or small clinical trials. They can also use a variety of research goals, such as clinical outcomes or in-vivo physiologic evaluations.
- Basic and Translational Science: Submissions to this area should primarily focus on physiologic or molecular causes of illness or therapy. This area includes basic research looking at fundamental elements of molecular and cellular control, as well as studies addressing disease processes or mechanisms of action of treatments using human tissue or animal models. Studies on humans that focus on the intersection of fundamental and clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease and use molecular physiologic or biochemical methods should also be submitted here.
- Outcomes Research: Submissions to this area should focus on population health, epidemiology, health services research, quality of treatment, and health outcomes. The usefulness of novel or modified systems or clinical procedures, economic efficiency, and population genetics/genetic epidemiology are only a few examples of the research that resulted in creative healthcare delivery.
