Opportunity Description

Singapore International Foundation (SIF) is now accepting applications for its Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global Program in 2024. The YSE Global 2024 initiative aims to inspire, empower, and allow young people of many nationalities to start social enterprises in Singapore and abroad. SIF wants to assist and make it happen if an applicant or their networks have viable and innovative commercial solutions to the social issue(s) anywhere in the world.

The YSE Global extents six months, including the following programs:

  • In-person YSE Global Workshop in Singapore
  • Four-month remote mentorship
  • Monthly capacity-building sessions
  • Pitch for a Change event, where up to six winning teams will receive up to S$20,000 in funding to start or scale up their social enterprise

About Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global

Since 2010, YSE Global has fostered a network of young people with creative, socially conscious business concepts. YSE leverages the power of ideas, know-how, and resources to impact good change for a better world in collaboration with established social entrepreneurs, business consultants, and investors.

Since March 2010, the YSE program has been inspiring, equipping, and enabling youth, and it has produced over 1,400 alums from 43 different countries. YSE has sponsored over 53 social companies with $910,000 in funds and continues to see their growth and influence in the region.

Benefits of the Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global

Participants will benefit from the Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global 2024 as follows:

  • International Network: Join an international network of young change-makers, like-minded individuals, corporations, and successful businesses;
  • Mentorship: Participants will gain access to insights from industry experts and professionals;
  • Monthly Learning Sessions: Broaden perspectives on social entrepreneurship by connecting, networking, and learning from essential actors in the social enterprise environment;
  • Grants: Receive up to S$20,000 in grants to help participants grow their social enterprise.

Eligibility Criteria of the Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) Global

Participants should meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be 18 and 35 years old;
  • The YSE Global is open to all nationalities;
  • Be young change agents with innovative ideas for addressing social issues through business;
  • Can apply as a team and individual;
  • Applicants should not conduct their operations in Singapore necessarily;
  • Teams may submit multiple solutions. However, the panel will choose only one of their ideas to be fair to the other participants/teams;
  • Applications must be in English

Applicants must submit the following items:

  • Business Plan Overview – (Download the guidelines and template)
    • Business Summary
    • Business Model Canvas
  • SE Team/Individual Photo
  • Business Logo (if available)
  • Any other supporting documents (if available)

Assessment Criteria

All applications should meet the following criteria:

  • Social Impact: The benefits received by the community and the possible impact on the community/issue
  • Innovativeness: Creative and enterprising ideas, as well as distinctive characteristics of business models
  • Feasibility and long-term viability of a business idea: The feasibility of a business idea
  • Commitment: The ability and dedication to be a change-maker
