The College of Arts and Sciences at American University is offering a Scholar-at-Risk Fellowship to a scholar pursuing academic or research work in Ukraine that has been disrupted by the conflict or geopolitical crisis. This fellowship is going to be started in August 2022 and will last for the entire academic year 2022-2023.
On top of that, this grant is meant to assist a scholar’s academic and research activities in Ukraine. Ukrainian scholars have a strong track record of performance in these fields, and if they stay in Ukraine, they may incur personal risk or be unable to advance their work.

Benefits

    • Candidates must have a Ph.D. or another doctoral degree in their area of specialization before August 2022.
    • During the fellowship period, the incumbent is expected to teach two courses as well as conduct research with an AU faculty mentor.
    • The fellow will be expected to attend college and university events.
    • All faculties in the College of Arts and Sciences are eligible to apply.
    • It is critical to be skilled in English teaching.
    • There is no need for papers or worksheets.

  • A letter of application outlining the candidate’s research and teaching interests.
  • An updated curriculum vitae or CV.
  • Names of three people who are familiar with the candidate’s work and are willing to serve as references and write letters if needed.
  • Copies of recently published papers or ongoing papers in electronic format.
