The Programme Specialist oversees policy and programme engagement with nations and regional groups and offers sector Ministries, AEs, and NDAs detailed advice on GCF programming, investment requirements, and partnership arrangements. The Specialist oversees engagement and origination in high-complexity countries with a sizable portfolio, fragile and conflict-affected states, large-scale climate impact due to population size and/or humanitarian contexts, and special needs nations like Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs). The specialist offers project development and technical assistance to nations and has sectoral programming expertise in mitigation and/or adaptation workstreams and/or climate finance skills set.

Salary and Benefits:

  • The net pay is USD 123,770. Additionally, there are attractive benefits that come with the job, such as housing allowances, education assistance, relocation allowances, and travel to one’s home country, if applicable.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A master’s degree in fields such as natural sciences, investment planning, engineering, climate finance, engineering, and sustainable development. a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience, or two (2) more years of experience after earning a bachelor’s degree.
  • A track record of success in developing nations and/or in multilateral programming settings, together with expertise in the use of climate finance tools.
  • Extensive sectoral program management experience combined with in-depth knowledge and field experience in the countries covered by the role.
  • Demonstrated industry knowledge and technical leadership in GCF mandate areas
  • Proficiency in spearheading national and regional program creation and project arrangement
  • Prior experience supporting country/regional dialogue and multisectoral coordination combined with project development and technical assistance delivery to countries
  • Language prerequisites: English and Portuguese or French for Africa; English and French or Arabic for the Middle East and North Africa; and English
