Each year, the Project Management Institute (PMI) invests in the future of project management by offering scholarships to students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs related to project management. These scholarships aim to promote leadership, innovation, and excellence in the project management field. Whether you’re just starting or advancing your expertise, PMI has designed various scholarships to support your growth.
Through a highly selective yet accessible process, students worldwide can apply for a range of scholarships, such as the Dr. Harold Kerzner Scholarship and GAC Scholarships.

Scholarships and Numbers
The PMI provides the following scholarship amounts and numbers for 2025:
- Dr. Harold Kerzner Scholarships
- Amount: 4 scholarships of $7,500 each
- Eligibility: Undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students in project management or related fields
- Sponsor: International Institute for Learning (IIL)
- GAC Scholarships
- Amount: 16 scholarships of $2,500 each
- Eligibility: Students enrolled in GAC-accredited project management programs
- Purpose: Support academic and professional growth in project/program/portfolio management
- Gaylord E. (Gary) Christle Scholarship
- Amount: 1 scholarship of $2,000
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral students in project management or related fields
- Focus: Emphasis on earned value and integrated program management
- Matthew H. Parry Memorial Scholarship
- Amount: 1 scholarship of $2,000
- Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students interested in a project management career
- Established by: PMI Board in honor of Matthew H. Parry
- PMI Fellows Scholarship
- Amount: 1 scholarship of $2,000
- Eligibility: Master’s or PhD students in project management or related fields
- In honor of PMI Fellows who have passed
- PMI Founders Scholarship
- Amount: 1 scholarship of $2,000
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree students in project management or related fields
- In honor of PMI’s founding members
- Ray Piper Global Project Management Education Scholarship
- Amount: 1 scholarship of $1,250
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s students in project management or related fields
- In memory of Ray Piper, a passionate educator and mentor
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Scholarships
- Amount: 4 scholarships of $5,000 each
- Eligibility: Students from underrepresented groups in PMI ERGs (Black, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent/Disabled, Women)
- Note: A separate application is required
- PMI EF Scholarships
- Amount: 3 scholarships of $2,000 and 1 scholarship of $1,000
- Eligibility: Students pursuing project management or related studies
- Goal: Support educational advancement in the field
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled or accepted into a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program in project management or a related field by Fall 2025
- Have a graduation date no earlier than Winter 2025
- Be full-time (undergraduate) or at least half-time (graduate) students as classified by their institution
- Receive scholarship funds through their institution (not directly)
- Be in good academic standing and comply with PMI’s Ethical Code and Cultural Values
- Not be:
- A current PMI employee, contractor, or consultant
- A family member of the above
- A sitting global PMI volunteer (except for DE&I scholarships)
- A PMI or PMIEF Board member
Required Documents
The following are the required supporting application documents:
- Electronic transcripts (official or unofficial) from the most recent or current institution
- If not currently enrolled, an acceptance letter and later proof of enrollment are required
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
- Two letters of recommendation on official letterhead
- Two short essays, as detailed on the Submittable application page
- If selected, tax documents, proof of enrollment, and a signed media release may also be required
Selection Process and Criteria
The selection process and criteria are as follows:
- PMI’s volunteer panelists review applications
- Evaluation based on:
- Quality and insightfulness of essays
- Strength of recommendation letters
- A points-based scoring rubric is used
- All decisions are final; lobbying or influencing the committee leads to disqualification
- Finalists must submit all additional documents within three weeks of notification to receive the award.
How to Apply?
- Create or log into a Submittable account
- Visit the PMI scholarship application portal between March 1 and May 1, 2025
- Fill out the relevant scholarship application form on Submittable
- Upload all required documents in English
- Apply before the deadline
