Opportunity Description

For women who have completed their doctorates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and work in academic or scientific research institutions in one of the designated Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs), the OWSD Early Career Fellowship is a prestigious award of up to USD 50,000.

The OWSD Early Career fellows receive support in setting up settings at their institutions where they can continue to conduct research at an international standard and draw in scholars from around the globe to collaborate.

To potentially turn their research into commercially viable products or ensure its impact on a larger scale, fellows will strengthen their leadership and management abilities for the two-year fellowship and cultivate relationships with a range of public and private sector partners. Fellows will learn how to effectively present their research to a variety of audiences and draw in new collaborators and potential funders to ensure the project’s long-term viability by honing their outreach and communication skills. OWSD is establishing a network of exceptional female scientists who can serve as mentors and role models for the upcoming generation of female STEM leaders by funding an increasing number of Early Career fellows.
