Do you want to learn more about the Freedom of Expression & Safety of Journalists? Are you a member of the law enforcement community? This Opportunity is for you! The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO), The International Police Association (IPA), and IBZ Castle Gimborn will soon be launching a global Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for judicial actors to promote international and regional standards on freedom of expression and the safety of journalists. The start date for the course is July 11, 2022.

Objective

It seeks to increase awareness of the need to defend journalists’ safety and their right to free speech and expression. Additionally, it intends to enhance the function of police officers in this situation and foster better professional ties between law enforcement and the media.

  3. Freedom of Information – Right to Information: The discussion will include the expansion of human rights to have the right to informational self-determination and access, as well as the function of significant Internet platforms like Google and Facebook.
  4. Ensuring Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists by State Bodies: They will talk about the crucial role that journalists play in democracies and the legal safeguards that are available to media practitioners.
  5. Police: Social Media and Digital Technologies: The subject addresses the risks and challenges posed by the rapid development of digital and social media technologies.
