Opportunity Description
The One World Media (OWM) Fellowship 2024 is now accepting applications. The One World Media Fellowship is for aspiring journalists and filmmakers who want to make a living covering stories from the developing world. Fellows’ projects, whether in film, print, audio, or multimedia, combine integrity and innovation to convey under-reported stories that challenge preconceptions and foster cross-cultural connections. They mentor filmmakers and journalists on a particular project and provide a supportive network of mentors and peers throughout the process of production and completion. They are looking for submissions from underrepresented groups, such as people of color, ethnic groups, women, LGBTQ+, individuals with disabilities, and persons from and based in the global south.
Quick Details:
Organized by: One World Media (OWM)
Application Deadline: March 21, 2024
Fellows Announcement: Early June 2024

- Proposals where the majority of the budget is in place or doable in a short timeframe.
- Projects that can be delivered within a year; for films, this is under 30 minutes.

They are seeking for true journalism or documentary content and will sponsor media that may eventually appear in existing newspapers, magazines, radio, TV channels, professional news websites, and online platforms, among other places.
Aside from that, OWM is especially interested in proposals that:
- Attempt to present unique stories in a way that will capture the interest of the intended audience.
- Bring attention to the voices of those living in the global south, especially those that are rarely heard.
- Have made connections and received confirmation from contributors that they are eager to participate.
- Have you considered ethical and safety concerns
- Don’t just focus on the negative characteristics of the global south without taking into account the context in which they occur.
