Opportunity Description

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, announced OIC Youth Scientific Congress. The Academy of Youth Diplomacy, Academy of Creative Youth of the Republic of Tatarstan, Tatarstan Republican Youth Public Foundation “SELET,” and Kazan Federal University will organize this congress program. 

The Congress’s primary purpose is to establish a global cooperation platform. This platform is to develop prerequisites for the sustainable development of international collaboration in the scientific field with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) region. Also, this program intends to develop deeper scientific awareness and understanding of UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), especially Quality Education (SDG 4) and the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development (SDG 7) related to youth roles in science, technology, and innovation. In addition, one of the Congress’s primary objectives is the publication of the OIC Youth Scientific Congress proceedings with participants’ theses.

Participants applying for the OIC Youth Scientific Congress will exchange opinions and ideas with other participants from different nationalities. Full-attended participants will receive a certificate issued by ICYF and program partners. The host country also covers the following costs for participants:

  • Other costs

Eligibility Requirements

There are several particular eligibility criteria that the organizing committee will make the final selection. All applicants should fulfill the requirements as follows:

  • Applicants should be between 18-35 years old
  • Applicants should be from Russia, OIC member states, and beyond
  • As an applicant, you should be involved in urban studies, modern technologies in education, petroleum engineering technologies, and current research in medicine.
  • You should be motivated and passionate about scientific events and activities
  • Applicant should have adequate English proficiency in communicating with other participants
  • Application should present an oral or written presentation in Congress online and in person.

Congress Format and Method

The OIC Youth Scientific Congress is for five days, starting on 21 and ending on 25 November 2022 in Kazan/Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. This program includes an opening ceremony, paper presentation, panel discussion, round-table discussions, and interactive workshops. 

A plenary session will be conducted during the opening ceremony, followed by a round-table discussion on “support for young scientists of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries.” This round-table discussion’s primary aim is to help participants discuss scientific research in modern technologies in education, urban studies, oil and gas technologies, and contemporary research in medicine. Also, they will share their experiences and be interested in further cooperation in science’s scientific, technical, and innovation development on topics. 

Congress Main Agenda 

  1. Urban Studies: As the result of metropolises worldwide and global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) 60% growth by 2025 and 2030, questions about the convenience of urban spaces, their sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, and social inclusiveness will be raised. Therefore, the participants will discuss the result of interdisciplinary research on urban space development in different parts of our planet. Professionals and experts in sociology, ecology, architecture, economics and other relevant fields can participate in this section.
  2. Modern Technologies in Education: This discussion section will cover the digitization of the educational process, migration pedagogy, conflict mediation, and the gadget addiction of students. Experts and researchers can present the results of their studies in tutoring and technologies for developing functional literacy, motivation, and critical thinking among students.
  3. Petroleum Engineering Technologies: The participants in the section will discuss, exchange opinions, and present solutions to hard-to-recover hydrocarbons. They also discuss future joint projects in the discussion tables.
  4. Current Research in Medicine: In this section, the main focus will be on genetic and cellular technologies in bio-medicine. Experts specifically discuss developing medicine and treatments based on gene and cell therapy. The participants also discuss new approaches to prevent and overcome the spread and development of antibiotic resistance.
