Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the 2025/27 Merit Scholarships are as follows:

• Applicants must be enrolled at Universität Hamburg for at least two semesters (Master’s and doctoral students can apply after one semester)
• Applicants must not hold German citizenship
• They must not be eligible for the federal student loan scheme (BAföG)
• Demonstrate good to excellent academic performance
• Have active involvement in social and intercultural activities
