Opportunity Description

International candidates are welcome to apply for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI)‘s Summer Internship Program. This Internship is an excellent opportunity for talented undergraduate and graduate-level students and educators. It allows interns to work directly with MBARI scientists, engineers, and communicators.

The MBARI’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, such as research vessels, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and Autonomous underwater vehicles, are available for participants to co-work on professional research and development projects. The interns are immersed in collaborative teams during the internship program as they learn engineering techniques, innovative research, and advanced communication skills. Moreover, an MBARI mentor will be there for each intern to supervise a specific project for a 10-week. Also, the Interns serve as peer mentors to each other. They will benefit from an hour-paid stipend for the full-time program. MBARI may also provide housing for those interns out of the area.

The program’s main objective is to provide interns and to develop the general good of the oceanographic community.
